Vanessa Raw Update : European Triathlon Championships 3rd July 2009.

Friday, July 10th, 2009

Vanessa finished 21st with a finishing time of 2:01.02 at the European Championships which were held on the 3rd July 2009.

Vanessa put in a good swim, finishing in the top 12 of the two lap non wetsuit swim, she worked well with Hollie Avil on her Focus Cayo Lightweight. Unfortunately, on one of the laps round the town she crashed, taking a corner a bit too quick, but got back and rode back up to the leaders (This really shows what great shape she is in currently). After the cycling transition it took Vanessa a while to get into a good running rhythm and did brilliantly to finish.

Vanessa Raw: Update, Madrid WCS 30th May 2009.

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009

I’ve just received a quick update from Vanessa Raw British Triathlete & 2012 Olympic hopeful. She had just finished her latest WCS race in Madrid, which took place on the 30th of May.

Vanessa was riding aboard her new Focus Cayo Lightweight which arrived a few weeks ago. After a great swim she found herself in the second pack, where Vanessa hit the front, and drove the pace very hard. After a great transisition she was rolling out on the Focus Cayo Lightweight to find herself up with the leading pack and working them intensely on the Focus. You could really tell she was getting into the swing of things and looked really settled on the bike.

After the transition into the Run stage Vanessa advised us that due to her recent spate of injuries she was instructed by her coaches to only run 1 lap in a bid to stop undoing all the great work she has put into recovering from previous injury issues. This resulted in a DNF, however it was great to see her absolutely storming in the swim and flying on the bike stages.

Here is a great pic of Vanessa riding hard during the bike stage.

Vanessa Raw: British Triathlete Riding Focus Bikes

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

I’ve just received a quick update from Vanessa Raw British Triathlete 2012 Olympic hopeful.

Vanessa’s Focus Cayo Lightweight arrived last Friday while Vanessa was abroad. So Vanessa competed on her Focus Cayo Ultegra training bike at the British Triathlon Elite Championships in Strathclyde, Scotland.

Vanessa explained the event was very cold and was not really the best way to gauge her current form. However she swam with the leaders but lost time in the first transition due to the conditions. Leaving the water she jumped onto the Focus Cayo Ultegra and biked very well during the cycling stage. She explained she had some trouble getting her running shoes on during the transition and still wasn’t able to feel her her feet after 5km into the run. The weather was exceptionally poor and she felt it best to call it a day for this event.

Vanessa will be saving her energy for the Madrid WCS race on May 31st where she will be using her Cayo Lightweight race bike for this event. Vanessa advised that she is just loving the Cayo Lightweight and all its super lightness!
