Goals for 2009:
To run the London marathon in under 3:10
To run a half marathon in under 1:28
To run a 10K in under 39:00
To run at least 5 ultra distance marathons
To run 1 race overseas
To remain injury free!
Ultimate sporting ambition:
To run the Badwater Ultramarathon (135 miles in 48 hours in the Death Valley)
Favourite race:
London Marathon. For the non elite runners, getting a place is so hard that the day has a mythical epic appeal. The atmosphere on the start line is electric and the emotions on display and inspirational stories of runners are fantastic.
Favourite training session:
LSD. My Long Slow Distance runs on a Sunday morning. I head out at 5am and hit the trails around Petts Wood / Chislehurst in Kent. By 9 am my work is done and I can enjoy the rest of my Sunday with my family and no guilt about having about tucking into a roast dinner.
Sporting hero:
Haile Gebreselassie, because he is so humble and such a gentleman, as well as a phenomenal athlete. He is living proof that nice guys do win.
