Ed out testing cycle clothing for Wiggle

I’m Ed and I’ve been at Wiggle for 3 years. I work as a commercial designer for Wiggle, specifically spending time on HTML direct email sends, to try and provide you with all the #GoodStuff we have to offer, right to your inbox.

After being fascinated with bikes from a young age (mostly because of my brother building his own bike from scratch as a teenager), I started cycling more seriously about 5 years ago, and now rack up on average 130km a week, about 5 hours of riding, on both the road and MTB. Since being at Wiggle I’ve definitely stepped up my riding, spurred on by the achievements of some of our own Wiggle athletes. I’ve taken part in many of our Wiggle Super Series events, and the occasional triathlon and running event too.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been fascinated with all the different components there are available for bikes, from so many brands, in so many different styles. You can completely customise a bike for a particular purpose, and to your needs and preferences. It’s my job to help share our recommendations on products.

In my spare time I like going to cycling exhibitions such as Bespoked Bristol and bike jumble sales, and have been known for finding some hidden gems on eBay from time to time.

I’ve been to both Afan and Cwmcarn MTB riding destinations, and been lucky enough to do things like tour the TeamSky bus and sit in Wiggo’s seat, watch pro races in the snow in Belgium, and cycle with professional riders from various teams on presentations and promotional events. My greatest achievement on the road bike to date would be completing the Rapha Festive 500 last year, riding 500km in 7 days, despite spraining both wrists after a crash on black ice with around 150km left to cycle.

Working at Wiggle

I’ve always felt lucky to be designing banners and advertising for brands that are highly involved in sport; in an industry I’m proud to be involved in. Sharing my love of sport through the designs I produce is very rewarding. My greatest achievements at Wiggle involve breaking records for email marketing. It’s always great to break previous records, and I’m driven to continue this both at work and in my sporting life.

I love working at Wiggle because I’m a keen cyclist and sportsman, so working in a business with likeminded people to share ideas and experiences with is really rewarding. This year I will be living with Morvelo, an independent UK cycle clothing brand. Helping provide you with more information about products from this brand, and how they perform under rigorous testing.
