On July 23rd, many Garmin users were left unable to use the Garmin Connect app to upload their activity due to an unscheduled outage. Here's how you can upload your activity to Strava on Windows, even without the Garmin app.
1. Plug in your Garmin device
We're not going to show you how to do this because there are so many devices and charging cables out there. Whatever model you have, your device has a USB cable for data transfer and charging so the first step is to connect it to your computer.
2. Log into Strava and select 'upload activity'
In the top right-hand corner of your Strava dashboard, you'll see a plus-sign. Hover over this and you'll open the drop-down menu where you'll find the option to upload your activity.
Open the 'file' tab
In the left-hand side of the screen, you'll see a 'file' tab. When you open this, you can select 'Choose Files.'
Navigate to your activity
When you click on 'Choose Files,' a file explorer window should appear. Find your Garmin device - it should appear under 'This PC'
Open the Garmin folder.
Open 'activities.'
Find your activity - it should be saved by the time and date.
Edit, save and share
Once your activity has uploaded, you'll be able to edit the details, as usual, save and brag if you're that way inclined.
