A 10k is challenging enough, but can the Lonely Goat community - the UK’s largest running club – run 10,000k? And would you like to help them out?
Lonely Goat and Wiggle have teamed up to host a very special event to inspire the nation on National Fitness Day, taking place on 22 September.
The challenge will see the Lonely Goat community take on the task of running a collective 10,000km over the space of a week, working together to unlock a host of rewards for all those taking part.
But you could enjoy the same rewards by taking part too, showing your support and helping raise the profile of National Fitness Day.
Whether running solo or together, each participant can choose to log 5, 10, or 15k runs to add to the total. And once the club hits a grand total of 10,000k, a series of exciting rewards await.
Along with the option to claim a real medal, provided by Wiggle, participants will also be eligible for awesome spot prizes and an exclusive discount at Wiggle.
The official start time will be at 10am on Wednesday 22 September, National Fitness Day itself, concluding at 11.59pm on Wednesday 29 September. Those taking part can complete one or more of their runs on any day of the challenge.
Those not yet part of the Lonely Goat herd can get involved by signing up, for free, on the Lonely Goat website.
Wiggle is minting a special medal to celebrate the event, which will be available to all those participating.
Taking part is free for all Lonely Goat members, new and existing. And, what’s more, Wiggle is also covering the cost of the medals! That means, those claiming their physical medal will only have to pay postage and packaging at just £4.
The Lonely Goat herd has a truly inspirational story, filled with every kind of runner and each providing valuable support and inspiration to other members.
With many in the UK preparing to use National Fitness Day as a springboard to a new life of running, seeing the herd reach a total as ambitious as 10,000km will surely send a message that anyone can run and that everyone should.
What’s more, Lonely Goat runners can take part in the challenge virtually on Zwift. A bespoke event has been scheduled on the Zwift platform, synchronised with the challenge’s launch at 10am on Saturday 18 September, concluding at 12 noon on 22 September.
To share the National Fitness Day positivity, the herd is being encouraged to share their stories and pictures using the hashtag #RunToInspire and tagging @wiggle on Facebook and @wiggle_sport on all other channels.
And those joining in could win one of three £25 vouchers which we'll be giving away to our favourite posts.
Wiggle will also be following the runners and working with Lonely Goat to provide a ‘running’ total of the kilometres completed as the challenge progresses.
To sign up, just visit the Lonely Goat website, sign-up, and add your 'Run to Inspire' distance within the dates above - easy!
